The Palio Citta della Quercia has always been an important showcase of international athletics, which could bring in Rovereto, Trentino, and great champions in this discipline.

It was the Italian Championship of CSI to sow the seeds of an event which over the years has been growing quality and fame. The meeting of Rovereto is the oldest Italian athletics track event, one of the oldest in Europe and the world. In half a century have passed since meeting in Rovereto many great champions of world and Italian athletics.

In memory they crowd the memories: Sebastian Coe, Jonathan Edwards, Stefka Kostadinova, Fita Lovin, Stacy Dragila, Javier Sotomajor, John Aki Bua, Jacek Wszola, Nenad Stekic, the world record in the 2000 metres steeplechase of Kenyan Kariuki.

Among Italians, the sprints by Pietro Mennea, Italian record by Renato Dionisi, primacy in the 3000 meters Gabriella Dorio, jump Fiona May and Giovanni Evangelisti, the spectacular races in the middle of Alberto Cova and Francesco Panetta, the walkway of the Olympic champion of the March Ivano Brugnetti.

The Palio Citta della Quercia became Rovereto city sports and heritage not only of the entire Trentino, grown only on the strength and enthusiasm of volunteering.
